My Friend Mathematics Project

My Friend Mathematics project basically assumes that teachers’ approach to teaching mathematics affect their teaching methods and techniques, and these methods and techniques shape students’ views and help in learning mathematics. That’s why it focuses on teacher training.

The aims of the project;

• To ensure that students see mathematics and mathematical thinking as part of their lives,
• Mathematicalization of curiosity,
• The acceptance of the specific teaching approach designed for MEÇ Schools.

This approach focuses on classroom work and teacher training while achieving its main goals. It includes lesson observations, evaluation of the lesson plans and preparation phase of all tasks. It also includes private discussions about the observations and studies completed by each teacher.

BÜMED MEÇ Education Conferences started in 2015 with the Conference on Teaching Mathematical Thinking Skills in Primary School – My Friend Mathematics at Boğaziçi University Albert Long Hall.
