At BÜMED MEÇ Schools, English language education is structured with a bilingual education model starting in preschool and continues with a planned and sustainable program throughout primary and middle school. The primary objective of the educational process is to ensure that students learn the language not by memorizing, but by understanding, using, and making it a natural part of their daily lives.
The English teaching curriculum has been prepared in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and under the consultancy of Boğaziçi University academicians. The program progresses gradually in accordance with students' age and developmental levels, aiming for measurable and lasting development of language skills. In line with this structure, it is targeted for students to reach A2 level English proficiency by the end of fourth grade, and B1+ level by the end of eighth grade.
A student-centered and communication-focused teaching approach is adopted in language education. Classes, conducted alongside an experienced faculty supported by continuous professional development, are reinforced through digital learning platforms, projects, homework, and after-school support programs. Thus, the learning process is enriched with different learning experiences without being limited to the classroom environment.
Our students actively use English not only during lesson hours but also through various activities. Practices such as Spelling Bee, Quiz Show, English Week, Show & Tell, debates, and thematic presentations allow students to experience the language as a natural communication tool and use it with confidence.
Starting from fourth grade, our students begin learning a second foreign language in addition to English. In this second foreign language chosen from French, German, and Spanish options, CEFR A1 level proficiency is targeted by the end of middle school. This process supports students in acquiring multilingual awareness and developing as individuals who can interact with different cultures.
To support its students in receiving an education at international standards, BÜMED MEÇ Schools collaborates with the London-based IWS British Online School, which holds Cambridge accreditation. Within the scope of this program, while improving their English listening, speaking, and expression skills, students also gain 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and cultural awareness. Lessons are conducted alongside our school's English, Mathematics, and Science teachers in harmony with the MEÇ educational approach.
