SARES Educational Approach

At BÜMED MEÇ Schools, the SARES (Inquire, Research, Critique, Defend) educational approach, developed by the Boğaziçi University Faculty of Education, is applied. Conducted by expert educators in their fields, this approach is based on closely monitoring students' individual development, ensuring their active participation in the learning process, and making families a natural stakeholder in the process by informing them regularly.

SARES makes learning permanent and meaningful with its contemporary, original, and creative structure.

Student-Centered Learning

Inquiry and research-based lessons are designed with a student-centered approach. Instead of receiving information ready-made, students construct and produce it with active participation in a democratic learning environment. They develop hypotheses, ask questions, research, and reinterpret information using their creativity. In this process, they deepen new information by associating it with their previously acquired knowledge base.

The Role of the Teacher

Acting on the principle that there is no single way to understand and interpret information, our teachers assume the role of a guide who initiates and directs the learning process and supports the student in taking responsibility for their own learning. In the SARES approach, the teacher is not the sole source of information, but a learning companion who encourages the student to think, inquire, and produce.

Multi-Source Learning Culture

Students carry out their assignments and projects in interaction not only with their teachers but also with their friends, books, digital resources, and families. This multi-source learning culture enables students to develop different perspectives, strengthen their collaboration skills, and associate information with life.
