At BÜMED MEÇ Schools, in order to support and develop our students' analytical thinking skills, the Mathematics Teaching Development Project is carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Engin Ader, an expert consultant in mathematics from the Primary Education Department of Boğaziçi University Faculty of Education. Under the title "Dostum Mathematics", a conference on Acquiring Mathematical Skills in Primary School was held regarding this program. In addition, a booklet describing our project has been contributed to the educational literature.
Our project, managed by a team of mathematics experts from Boğaziçi University Faculty of Education, Primary Education Department, aims to properly address mathematics—which is often detached from real-life context and reduced to an element of the assessment system—and to reintegrate its resources, philosophy, and application areas into education. It targets raising individuals with advanced analytical thinking skills who can effectively use their mathematical knowledge in perceiving and solving problems they encounter.
